M&M lab

Our hypothesis was that the color green would be the most common color in the three M&M bags that we would test. Our question to this hypothesis is what is the most frequent (mode) of the colors in the bag. We tested our educated guess by opening three bags of M&M and counting the colors. We thought that green would be the most color because the color is widely liked.
During our research we found that there were independent and dependent variables. Since our hypothesis was that we were finding the most common color in three M&M bags we first had to find the independent variable. The independent variable was the number of each color of M&Ms from each bag. Each bag had different numbers. Now that we have found the independent variable we must find the dependent variable. Out of the three bags we had to find the bag that had the most colors of M&Ms. Bag number two had the most of a certain color and it was blue.
We can say that blue is the top number of M&Ms collected. Blue also happened to be the one that showed up the most. The average of the Blue M&Ms is 14, so you will get around 14 Blue M&Ms in your bag of M&Ms. The dependent variable was the mode of the colors in the bags. The independent variable was the M&Ms that were in the bags.
The total amount of M&Ms is 56, 56, and 52 in the three bags. The total number of red was 4, 6, and 3. Green was 5, 4, 6. Brown was 7, 2, and 6. Blue, the mode of the colors, was 16, 23, and 16. The number of yellow is 4, 6, and 9. Finally, the number of orange is 20, 17, and 12.
In conclusion, we disproved our hypothesis because we collected data from three different bags of M&M's and it proved that green was not the most common color in all of the bags as we thought it was. The data we collected from Bag 1 stated that Blue was the most common color. Blue was also the most common in Bag 2. The data from Bag 3 stated that Orange was the most common color. Therefore, that is how we disproved our hypothesis of Green being the most common color and Orange is statistically proven from the three bags that it is the most common color.
